This course introduces students to the study of racial inequality, ethnic relations, and immigration in Canada as a multicultural society. The course will use a sociological approach to explore topics related to ethnic and racial relations in Canada including the history of immigration in Canada, involvement in the labour market, residential patterns, health outcomes and participation in religion and politics. Students will have an opportunity to pursue a topic of interest in their assignments and build theoretical, methodological, reading and writing skills that will prepare them for further studies in sociology.
